Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A District 2 this week, Santa Rosa beat Estancia 27-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Santa Rosa took down the Bears 27-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Estancia's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Clay Cabber threw for 36 yards and Cesar Quintana had 26 yards receiving. On the ground Joshua Jaquez chipped in 91 yards. Adam Lujan helped Estancia's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Jaquez was a passing and rushing force as Stewart Burnett's team fell to Mario Trujillo's team.
Quintana was the best receiver in the league this week as the Bears fell to the Lions. Quintana racked up 1 reception for 26 yards. Lujan helped Estancia's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Estancia's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cabber has thrown for 381 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Quintana has 5 catches for 182 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Clayton and Santa Rosa. The Yellowjackets enters the contest ranked 23rd in the state, while the Lions ranks 14th.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Clayton takes on Santa Rosa. Collin Justiss' team has allowed 36 points this season, while the Lions have given up 96.
Texico and Tucumcari played the most contested game in 2A District 2 this week, with Texico eventually emerging with a 21-20 victory.
