The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Thursday Tenaha takes on Colmesneil in the first playoff game of the year. Tenaha has flexed its offensive muscles in its last four matchups, so Colmesneil has a real workout ahead of it.
Tenaha has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling eight) after its most recent game. It took its contest against Timpson last week by a conclusive 40 - 6 score. Senior Onterio Thompson continued his outstanding stretch of play as he rushed for 206 yards in the win, marking his 10th consecutive game with over 100 yards rushing. The longest score for Thompson was a punishing, defense-defying 58-yard dash in the third quarter. Thompson has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past ten consecutive games. Senior Trai Gardner banked an additional two TDs for the team.
As for Colmesneil, it is still under.500 but has been making strides to fix that in its last two games. The final score between it and Burkeville last week was a 66 - 8 blowout in Colmesneil's favor. That 58-point margin marks the most Colmesneil has won by all season.
Their wins bumped Tenaha to 11-0 and Colmesneil to 4-5. With both Colmesneil and Tenaha swaggering in after impressive performances, we'll find out which team will step up to teach the other some humility.
