Michael Giacone, one of the country's top tight ends, has switched his verbal commitment from Rutgers to Boston College, St. Peter's Prep assistant coach Rich Hansen Jr. told MaxPreps.
The news comes in the wake of Rutgers' coaching shake up in which Greg Schiano left to take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers job. The Scarlet Knights promoted assistant coach Kyle Flood yesterday.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Giacone is the nation's No. 21 tight end.
In
St. Peter's Prep's (Jersey City, N.J.) run-heavy offense, Giacone was responsible for 13 catches for 191 yards and a touchdown.
He becomes the first player to switch his commitment from Rutgers since the
Schiano news broke last week.
