AAA Region 1 recap September 24, 2013
Southeast Bulloch scaled the state rankings by moving to 313 from 379 this week, the biggest jump in AAA Region 1. The Yellowjackets climbed the ranks as a result of topping Telfair County 35-26.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Pierce County beat Beach 42-14,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Jermaine Williams was the best wideout in the league this week as Savannah beat Tattnall County. Williams racked up 4 receptions for 120 yards. Akeem Brown helped Savannah's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 34 yards.
Raquan Green put up the best numbers through the air as Johnson fell to Appling County. He had a total of 6 completions for 107 yards. Green's favorite target this week was Darrell Myers, who caught 2 passes for 64 yards.
Jamal Norman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bluejackets defeated the Warriors. He completed 8 passes for 174 yards and also ran for 54 yards.
Trey Dillard was the best running back in AAA Region 1 this week. He ran for 74 yards on 13 carries as Savannah beat Tattnall County.
5-foot-6 quarterback Green of the Atomsmashers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 446. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Williams. The Savannah star has 15 catches for 233 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Pierce County takes on the Warriors. As it stands, the Bears are in first, while Tattnall County is in fourth.
Johnson fell to the Pirates 49-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Green ran for 51 yards in the defeat.
