ALACHUA, Fla. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
North Marion (Citra, Fla.) held on for a 14-7 victory over
Santa Fe (Alachua, Fla.) on Saturday. The difference for the Colts was that
Javontres Autry ran for a touchdown.
After nabbing the lead on a touchdown, the Raiders went into halftime with a 6-0 lead. The Colts scored the winning points with a Autry touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring eight points in the third, North Marion still trailed by two points going into the fourth quarter. But seven points in the fourth helped NM pull out the victory.
Santa Fe's only touchdown came on a 36-yard run in the first quarter.
The Citra school entered the contest giving up 19.4 points per game this year.
The defeat comes as a step back for Santa Fe, which notched a 40-27 victory over Belleview in its previous outing. The win brought North Marion's winning streak to three games. The loss ended Santa Fe's three-game winning streak.
Santa Fe (4-4) will play a 5A District 5 game against Eastside next week, while North Marion (6-2) will take on Belleview also in a 5A District 5 game.
