Bishop Neumann (Wahoo, Neb.) is this week'sMaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for contests played Oct. 5-11.
A no-hitter and an eight-inning two-hit shutout highlighted Briley's 3-0 week in the circle. She capped her tremendous week off with a no-no against Yutan-Mead, facing just one batter over the minimum. Briley struck out nine and walked in a 5-0 victory. A day earlier in a 1-0 triumph over the same Yutan-Mead squad, she surrendered just two hits, struck out 11 and did not walk a batter as the Cavaliers were able to push a run across in the eighth for the victory. In 15 innings against the Patriots, she did not allow a run, struck out 20, walked one and gave up just two hits.
Briley's other appearance resulted in a two-hit, 10-strikeout performance versus Raymond Central. She surrendered an unearned run and walked two in the 4-1 win. In addition to her stellar pitching, Briley helped out at the plate with at least one hit in Bishop Neumann's four wins. She went 2-for-3 with a double in game one against Yutan-Mead, and also tripled, scored and registered a RBI versus North Bend Central.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
