Shore - North A recap September 24, 2013
Manalapan was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to first in Shore - North A. The Braves vanquished Freehold Township 49-0 earlier in the week.
Middletown North scaled the state rankings by moving to 178 from 216 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Brick Memorial 29-3.
Howell's dynamic duo of Connor McGlynn and Jarvis Leaks proved to be unstoppable against Marlboro, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McGlynn threw for 285 yards and 4 touchdowns and Leaks had 157 yards receiving. Joey Schultz helped Howell's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 74 yards.
The Rebels' dynamic duo of McGlynn and Leaks proved tough for the Mustangs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Saeed Blacknall was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 57 yards on 3 carries as Manalapan bested Marlboro. Charles Lombana also contributed to the rushing game with 48 yards on the ground.
He was 19-27 with 1 interception.
Leaks was the best wideout in Shore - North A this week as Derek Reichenbecher's team beat Jason Dagato's team.
McGlynn put up the best numbers in passing as the Rebels topped the Mustangs.
Howell's McGlynn and Schultz have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McGlynn has thrown for 652 yards this season, while Schultz, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 12 catches for 229 yards. Colts Neck's Christian Sanchez leads the league in rushing yards with 144.
At the moment, the Rebels are in second, while Middletown South is in fourth.
Ed Gurrieri's team took down the Patriots 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dan Anerella threw for 60 yards and 3 touchdowns during the win.
