3A District 3 recap November 13, 2013
Oklahoma Centennial made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,500 from 7,154. The advance stemmed from a 21-2 victory over Marshall last week.
Newcastle's dynamic duo of Casey Freeman and Ben Persall proved tough for Bethel to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Freeman threw for 72 yards and 1 touchdown and Persall had 30 yards receiving. Brandon Smith helped Newcastle's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 23 yards.
Landon Nault provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kingfisher topped Marlow.
Tristan Ransom made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Yellowjackets topped the Outlaws. The 5-foot-10 senior pulled down 1 interception.
Nault was a beast in the backfield as Kingfisher beat Marlow.
Heritage Hall's Connor McGinnis and Domonique James led 3A District 3 in both passing and receiving yards. McGinnis has thrown for 1,600 yards this season, while James has 28 catches for 705 yards. Jeff Myers' team's Nault leads the league in rushing yards with 1,684.
The Racers' Zach Bergt is a mere 99 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 176 carries Bergt has accumulated 901 yard this year.
The Chargers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on Star-Spencer.
