Edgewood Academy (Elmore, Ala.), which won the AISA Class A state championship in Alabama, is ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps Small School National Baseball Rankings, finishing ahead of state champions from Florida, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Edgewood Academy had one of the highest win totals in the country this year with a 43-3 overall record. It finishes ahead of Melbourne Central Catholic (Melbourne, Fla.), which won the Class 2A state championship in Florida. Verdigris (Claremore, Okla.), the Class 3A champion in Oklahoma, and St. Joseph (Conway, Ark.), the Class 2A state champion in Arkansas finished third and fourth, respectively.
The small school national rankings are based on the
MaxPreps Computer Baseball Rankings, and include those from schools that participate in state enrollment divisions generally under 1,000 students.

Charlton County won the Class 2 final in Georgia, making the Indians the No. 22 team in the small school rankings.
