On Wednesday, Dec. 21 MaxPreps and members of the North Carolina National Guard made a visit to
Green Hope (Cary, N.C.) High School to recognize the boys soccer team for its excellent 2016 season. In its sixth year honoring the top 10 boys soccer teams, the Falcons were awarded the prestigious National Ranking trophy on the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions.
Green Hope shut out previously undefeated Porter Ridge with a final score of 3-0 to win the 2016 NCHSAA 4A state title on Saturday, Nov. 19th. This was the Falcons' third state championship, and first since the program's back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012.

The student body gathered in the gymnasium for a pep rally to celebrate the success of the soccer team. MaxPreps representative Ray Dungee introduced the Tour of Champions to the student body and finished his congratulatory message by telling the students that their boys soccer team finished the season ranked No. 1 in the nation out of 16,000 boys soccer teams across the country, according to the MaxPreps computer poll.
Next, Major Robert L. Prout from the North Carolina National Guard was introduced. Major Prout compared the traits found on a championship team with those found within each member of the Army National Guard — dedication, commitment, hard work, determination. He then presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to head coach David Corsbie and the team.
Coach Corsbie was excited and humbled by the national recognition. He concluded the ceremony by thanking both the Army National Guard and MaxPreps for the award.
Congratulations to the nation's No.1 Green Hope Falcons on a great season!
