Butler (Matthews, N.C.) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 45-14 victory over Providence (Charlotte, N.C.) on Saturday.
The Bulldogs were up 31-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Zach Gross touchdown pass to
Channing Stribling in the first quarter.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 31.
The Panthers' James Haigh played well. He threw one touchdown.
Gross played well for Butler in the victory. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns.
BHS came into the game allowing 4.4 points per game.
The Matthews school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 42-10.
The loss comes after Providence defeated Myers Park 28-21 last week.
Butler (8-0) will play a 4A Southwestern game against South Mecklenburg next week, while Providence (3-5) will take on East Mecklenburg also in a 4A Southwestern game.
