Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Auburn should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Williamsville at 7:00 PM. Keep an eye on the score for this one : both teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up.
Auburn were fully in charge last Friday, breezing past Pittsfield-Griggsville-Perry 49-8. With Auburn ahead 35-6, the game was all but decided by halftime.
Meanwhile, Williamsville was the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. Everything went their way against Riverton as the squad secured a 55-6 victory. The Williamsville offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the matchup anyway.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 2-0. In Williamsville's win, sophomore Conor McCormick rushed for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns and senior Damon Coady rushed for 51 yards and 1 touchdown. We'll see if Auburn have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
