Whitesboro (11-0) may have come out ahead in its last game, but it shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. This Friday it takes on Greece Athena (11-0) in the first playoff game of the year. Each team will be battling to keep its 11-game winning streak alive.
Last week, Whitesboro took on Union-Endicott. Whitesboro's defense put the team in a good position heading into the break, holding Union-Endicott to a measly six points. That put Whitesboro at a 14 - 6 advantage. The offense wasn't without success either, scoring 31 points in the second half. At the end of the day, Whitesboro walked away with a breezy 45 - 18 win.
As for Greece Athena, it blew past Bennett last week 41 - 12. Senior quarterback Tavon Granison deserves a lot of the credit as he ran for 174 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. Granison has been a consistent playmaker for Greece Athena as this was the 11th good game in a row from him.
Whitesboro and Greece Athena both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Whitesboro with six and Greece Athena with eight), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
