4A District 5 recap October 1, 2013
Boyle County added to the longest winning streak in 4A District 5 this week by beating Taylor County, 42-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Rebels.
Lexington Catholic was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Knights beat Mercer County 34-6 earlier in the week.
Mercer County's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Titans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Drew Davis has thrown for 846 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Lane Peavler has 12 catches for 342 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Boyle County and Lexington Catholic. Larry French's team enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while Bill Letton's team ranks 12th.
The Rebels made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 938 from 1,017. The advance stemmed from a 42-6 victory over the Cardinals last week.
