PALM COAST, Fla. - After three lead changes,
First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.) took the lead for the win when
Deandre Johnson threw a touchdown to
Jaris Scott with less than a minute remaining in the fifth quarter and held on to defeat
Flagler Palm Coast (Palm Coast, Fla.) 35-34 on Saturday.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 14. The Buccaneers took the lead indefinitely on a touchdown pass by Johnson to Scott in the fifth quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Flagler Palm Coast, who notched a 16-0 victory over Palatka in its previous outing. The loss ended Flagler Palm Coast's three-game winning streak. The win brought First Coast's winning streak to four games.
In a 8A District 1 game next week Flagler Palm Coast (4-3) takes on Mandarin, and First Coast (6-1) will go up against West Port also in a 8A District 1 game.
