Both Northwest Guilford and Myers Park go head to head this Friday at 7:30 PM in their first playoff game of the year. Things didn't go well at all for Northwest Guilford two weeks ago, where the team lost 58 - 15 to East Forsyth. As for Myers Park, it narrowly escaped with a win two weeks ago as it sidled past East Mecklenburg 23 - 21.
With the halftime score sitting at 38 - 7, Northwest Guilford just had too much of a disadvantage to overcome in its last match. It wasn't able to keep up yardage-wise, falling behind with 233 yards in comparison to East Forsyth's 474. The defeat brought Northwest Guilford down to 7-4.
Meanwhile, Myers Park started its game with a lot of points -- 20 points in the first half -- and coasted on that for the victory. The margin of victory was a little more narrow than expected seeing as it is ranked 87 places ahead of East Mecklenburg in the state. The win bumped its record up to 10-1.
Myers Park is looking to hand Northwest Guilford its first back-to-back losses of the season. We'll find out if Northwest Guilford can avoid giving it that satisfaction.
