Northwest Kansas recap October 8, 2013
Wichita County lost to Oakley 66-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Colton Northrup was a bright spot for the Indians, as he ran for 60 yards in the defeat.
Decatur Community led Northwest Kansas in scoring this week by notching 35 points on St. Francis. Dayton Dreher ran for 156 yards in the win.
Dreher was a passing and rushing force as the Red Devils defeated the Indians.
Dreher was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 156 yards on 19 carries as Decatur Community fell to the Plainsmen. Bryson Wesley also contributed to the rushing game with 75 yards on the ground.
Wichita County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jantz Budde has thrown for 387 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Casey Day has 6 catches for 137 yards.
Joe Dreher's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,102 from 8,235. The improvement was largely due to a 35-0 victory over St. Francis last week.
