Mesa is five games into its season, but it hasn't met anyone harder than the team challenging it next. It takes on Desert Ridge this Friday at 7:00 PM. Neither team wants a repeat from last game, where each was handed a considerable defeat.
Mesa was crushed by Tolleson 37 - 14 last week. The loss came about despite a quality game from senior running back Kris Jackson, who split the defense to the tune of 104 yards. This marked the 4th consecutive game in which Jackson had 100+ rushing yards.
As for Desert Ridge, last game was the first rocky defensive outing for it this year. It suffered a painful 52 - 28 defeat to Hamilton last week. All the same, giving senior Tyrese Allen more carries than the previous game paid off since he ran for 65 yards and punched in two touchdowns. Allen has been the ringleader for Desert Ridge this season two times now.
After their losses, Desert Ridge dropped to 2-1 and Mesa dropped to 1-3. We'll find out on Friday which team can get past their defeat and step into the winner's circle.
