Eastern Guilford and Clayton face off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. Eastern Guilford is currently on a eight-game winning streak and looking to extend its dominance.
Eastern Guilford strolled past D.H. Conley last week with points to spare, taking the game 44 - 29. Senior Dominique Graves was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he rushed for 264 yards and five touchdowns). Graves has been a consistent playmaker for Eastern Guilford as this was the 8th good game in a row from him.
As for Clayton, it kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, it beat Cleveland 40 - 35 last week. Junior Trevaun Richardson deserves a lot of the credit as he earned three touchdowns and 105 yards rushing the ball. Richardson has now scored at least one TD in the past 13 consecutive games. Senior Elyjah Bradshaw was in the mix too, providing Clayton with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Clayton to 13-0 and Eastern Guilford to 11-2. Clayton and Eastern Guilford had some big point totals in their last games, so we'll see if they bring that energy into this game.
