Olathe added to the longest winning streak in 2A Western this week by beating Basalt, 34-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Zane Westbrook made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bayfield defeated Coal Ridge. The 6-foot-3 junior recorded 1 fumble and racked up 1 sack.
Tyler Scott threw for 318 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 19-35 with 2 interceptions.
Leon Hernandez was the best wideout in the league this week as Grand Valley beat Pagosa Springs. Hernandez racked up 7 receptions for 134 yards. Ivan Arizaga helped Grand Valley's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 120 yards.
The Cardinals' Scott and Arizaga led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Scott has thrown for 1,509 yards this season, while Arizaga has 34 catches for 550 yards. Aspen's Ryan Fitzgerald leads the league in rushing yards with 866.
A big matchup in 2A Western this week will be when Gunnison takes on the Wolverines. The Cowboys are in second place, while Bayfield is in third place.
Gunnison made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,010 from 9,638. The improvement was largely due to a 14-10 victory over the Skiers last week.
