With 20 teams at the same position as last week, not much has changed in the power rankings this week -- but there was still plenty of gameday excitement. The action included a dizzyingly high 102-point combined score from Plano East and Dallas Jesuit.
Can't Touch This
Arlington got a 42 - 31 win over Lamar last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Jahari Rogers. Rogers rushed for 203 yards and five touchdowns. That performance landed Rogers among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Cedar Hill and DeSoto, 4th and 12th in the power rankings, respectively. Cedar Hill scooted by DeSoto with a score of 32 - 17. The high-scoring offensive effort was a definite turnaround from Cedar Hill's flat performance last game.
Movin on Up
Nolan Catholic gave both Trinity Christian and its quarterback (sacked 10 times) a rough time last week. Everything went Nolan Catholic's way against Trinity Christian as it secured a 63 - 14 win. One of the main ringleaders for Nolan Catholic was senior Luke Macias, who threw for 315 yards and five touchdowns. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by two, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 102-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Plano East took its game by a score of 58 - 44. Even if it didn't bump it up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
