This week, Spalding (1-5) and Perry (4-4) square off against each other on Friday at 7:30 PM. The last four games have been slow for Spalding as it has struggled to accumulate many yards.
Spalding's encounter with Mary Persons three weeks ago was a 24-point stomp, but the result two weeks ago was anything but. Spalding was close but not close enough last game as it fell 27 - 25 to West Laurens. The team got a solid performance out of senior Lamont Calloway (he picked up 108 yards on the ground); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. Calloway's score was a 32-yard scramble in the second quarter.
As for Perry, it is still above.500 but has been slipping the past two games. Its opponent Upson-Lee put it away 38 - 21 last week.
The last time they met, Spalding was the 29 - 0 victor. The rematch might be a little tougher for it since the team will be on Perry's home field this time. We'll soon find out whether that makes a difference or not.
