Grant Gunnell of
St. Pius X (Houston).
The 2019 Arizona commit completed 26-of-40 passes for 436 yards and six touchdowns. The 4-star quarterback also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 46-34 win over Manor (Texas). The future Pac-12 gunslinger has led his team to a 4-0 start in 2018 and has thrown for 1,682 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Gunnell is now 1,371 yards away from breaking
Hunter Lile's Texas all-time career passing record (14,408) and needs 24 passing touchdowns to break
Travis Quintanilla's career mark (184).
Only players selected for the
2019 and
2020 Polynesian Bowl are eligible to win the award and we will select a Player of the Year at the end of the season too.

Bru McCoy — Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)The No. 1 athlete from the Class of 2019 showed why he's one of the top players in the country. He hauled in nine receptions for 125 yards and a score in the biggest game of the weekend against No. 6 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). He played a major role in snapping the Ascenders' 40-game winning streak as Mater Dei won 28-24.
Taulia Tagovailoa — Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.)The 2019 Alabama commit has been having a monster senior campaign and it continued this past weekend in their 35-0 win over Tuscaloosa County (Northport, Ala.). The younger brother of
Tua Tagovailoa threw for 350 yards and finished the night with four total touchdowns.
Puka Nacua — Orem (Orem, Utah)The 2019 USC commit puts up video game numbers every week. He hauled in four receptions for 145 yards and a score in their 63-0 win over Mountain View. He would've put up even bigger numbers if he didn't sit the second half because of the score. The 4-star receiver is leading the country in receiving yards (1,154) and is tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns (14).
