There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Summerville's senior Johnathan Bennett, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Welcome
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Daniel in its matchup against Westside. The team got that and then some. Daniel had all the answers against Westside, winning 36 - 14. Junior Tyler Venables deserves a lot of the credit as he earned three touchdowns and 97 yards rushing the ball. Thanks to its success, Daniel cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Summerville's 55 - 17 win over Stratford last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Johnathan Bennett. Bennett ran for 167 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Bennett among the top power-ranked players for the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
Myrtle Beach managed to bank 177 more yards than its opponent Socastee last week, and going the extra distance paid off. Everything went Myrtle Beach's way against Socastee as it secured a 63 - 20 win. Myrtle Beach had two big standouts, as junior Luke Doty threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns, while senior Jermani Green rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns. The combined 83-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Hillcrest (19th in the power rankings) and Dorman (6th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both Dorman and Hillcrest put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they play one another this week.
