Tarboro (11-0) is set to face off against Riverside (7-5) in a playoff match this Friday at 7:30 PM. Riverside will be facing an offensive juggernaut that has totally flattened its last 11 opponents.
Two weeks ago, Tarboro took on South Creek. Tarboro's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 42 points in the first half. That put it at a 42 - 0 advantage. The defense contributed as well, holding South Creek to two points in the second half. In the end, Tarboro steamrollered its way to an easy 49 - 2 victory.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between Riverside and Princeton last week. Riverside strolled past Princeton with points to spare, taking the game 70 - 51. Senior Jadakis Bonds didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he ran for 332 yards and punched in three touchdowns. The longest score for Bonds was a punishing, defense-defying 75-yard dash in the fourth quarter. This sound performance was nothing new for Bonds, who has been a rock for Riverside in the past three games. Junior Nakwon Burns was in the mix too, providing Riverside with three touchdowns.
Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Tarboro and Riverside will really light up the scoreboard.
