Lapwai is 9-1 against Potlatch since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lapwai Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Potlatch Loggers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Lapwai's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 14 matches.
Lapwai can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on Troy with a sharp 80-55 victory. Given Lapwai's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Troy is ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kase Wynott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 34 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. Wynott is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ahlius Yearout, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Potlatch pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Kendrick 60-56. Potlatch has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Lapwai's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40.2 points. As for Potlatch, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.
Lapwai was able to grind out a solid win over Potlatch in their previous meeting back in January, winning 57-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lapwai since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
