North Medford (Medford, Ore.) grabbed the lead when they ran for a touchdown with 6:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Grants Pass (Ore.) 28-21 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured two lead swaps.
After trailing 20-7 at the half, the Cavemen went ahead on a touchdown with 2:00 to go in the third.
By the end of the third, North Medford found itself trailing by two points as Grants Pass captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. GP scored on a kick return and a passing touchdown in the quarter.
NM got revenge for last year's 14-7 loss to the Cavemen with the victory.
The loss comes after Grants Pass defeated West Linn 44-30 last week.
In a 6A Special District 1 game next week Grants Pass (1-2) takes on Crater, and North Medford (2-1) will go up against Sheldon also in a 6A Special District 1 game.
