Though just a junior, Charlie High completed a record-shattering year on Friday by leading Christian Academy of Knoxville (Knoxville, Tenn.) to a decisive 49-14 victory over four-time champion Milan (Tenn.) for its first Class 3A state championship.
The six-foot, 176-pounder completed 32 of 41 passes for 476 yards and seven touchdowns. The yardage and touchdowns both were 3A title-game records, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. He also has established six single-season state records during the 13-2 campaign: 357 of 484 passing for 5,191 yards and 65 touchdowns, plus total offense marks with 69 touchdowns and 5,350 yards.
High was named the game's Offensive MVP after being chosen as Class AA Mr. Football Back earlier in the week.
Receiver Davis Howell was the leader in the title game with 11 catches for 126 yards and four touchdowns.
