Claysburg-Kimmel is 11 games into its season, but it hasn't met anyone harder than the team challenging it next. Both it and Bishop Guilfoyle have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Claysburg-Kimmel is coming into the game hot, having won three in a row.
Claysburg-Kimmel extended its back-to-back wins into a three-game streak in its previous match. It strolled past Penns Manor last week with points to spare, taking the game 27 - 8. Claysburg-Kimmel especially relied on senior Ty Hagen, who finished up with 156 yards passing and two rushing touchdowns, and sophomore Seth Mussellman, who ran for 141 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
As for Bishop Guilfoyle, it has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling seven) after its most recent game. It put the hurt on Somerset two weeks ago with a conclusive 55 - 3 victory. With four TDs, senior Joshua Yasulitis was a significant factor in the success. Yasulitis has been a consistent playmaker for Bishop Guilfoyle as this was the 8th good game in a row from him.
Their wins bumped Claysburg-Kimmel to 7-4 and Bishop Guilfoyle to 10-0. Of course, Claysburg-Kimmel and Bishop Guilfoyle can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
