Check out some info on teams to keep an eye on this seasonThe National High School Invitational had a profound effect on the MaxPreps Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings this week, but Olympia continues to hang on to the No. 1 overall spot.
San Clemente moved up from No. 6 to No. 2, leapfrogging Park Vista to move in just behind undefeated Olympia. College Park, the NHSI runner-up, also moves into the rankings at No. 9 while JSerra Catholic, the previous No. 2, falls to No. 11 and Mosley, the previous No. 4, falls to No. 10.
All total, 10 of the 16 teams that participated in the NHSI found a spot in this week's rankings, which expand to 50 teams. No teams from states that have not officially begun play are included in this week's rankings. As the northern states begin play, teams from those states will enter into the rankings.
MaxPreps Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings
1. (last week 1) Olympia (Orlando, Fla.), 17-0
The Titans won four games at the Florida League High School Invitational to remain undefeated on the season. In a 3-2 win over Niceville,
Kirk Sidwell went 2-for-3 and
Jordan Morrow had a double.
Zachary Mishriki went 2-for-3 with a double in a 3-2 victory over Florida Christian while
Juan Hillman struck out eight in five innings of work in a 7-1 win over Trinity Christian.
Michael Byrne pitched the shutout in a 2-0 win over Pembroke Pines, striking out four. Olympia has a key game against Apopka this week. Apopka knocked Olympia out of the playoffs last year.
2. (6) San Clemente (Calif.), 12-0
Despite playing without All-American pitcher
Kolby Allard, the Tritons captured first place at the National High School Invitational with four straight wins. San Clemente defeated College Park (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) 8-3 in the championship game and topped Huntington Beach (Calif.) 5-1 in the semifinals. San Clemente also topped Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.) 7-5 in the first round and College Station (Texas) 5-3 in the second round.
3. (3) Park Vista (Lake Worth, Fla.), 16-1
The Cobras won their only game of the week, defeating Forest Hill 14-2.
Dakota Julylia was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs while
Nyle Newland was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
4. (7) Sulphur (La.), 21-0
Sulphur won three times last week, including a 6-1 win over defending state, and national, champion Barbe (Lake Charles, La.). The Tornadoes also defeated Acadiana 3-1 and Comeaux 14-3.
Kale Breaux got the win over Barbe, striking out seven and giving up six hits in seven innings.
Austin Nelson added a couple of doubles and also had a home run against Acadiana.
Nick Briggs homered against Comeaux.
5. (8) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 10-0
The Gaels won six games last week, defeating Medford (Ore.) 6-4, San Marcos (Calif.) 9-1, Ralston Valley (Colo.) 11-1, Rincon 5-3, Boulder (Colo.) 16-6 and Tucson (Ariz.) 5-1.
Brandon Wulff had a double and a home run against San Marcos while
Matt Hudgins homered against Ralston Valley.
Cadyn Grenier hit a home run in the Rincon game while
Beau Capanna added a double and a triple. Wulff added another home run against Tucson.
6. (9) St. Rita (Chicago), 7-0
St. Rita won four times and gave up just one run in the process while racking up two shutouts.
Matt Lenzen gave up no runs on six hits over seven innings, but did not get the decision in a 1-0 win over Benet Academy. St. Rita bashed four home runs, including a grand slam by
Mateo Zunica, in an 18-0 win over Bloomington.
Matt Murawski,
Marty Bechina and
Christian Pearl also hit homers. The Mustangs also defeated Simeon 7-1. St. Rita also scored 21 runs in the first inning of a win over Morgan Park on Sunday.

7. (10) Pearland (Texas), 17-1-1
The Oilers captured a 6-0 shutout win over The Woodlands last week.
Ryan Diaz was 3-for-4 while
Eddie Redou had a double. In a 4-3 win over Memorial (Houston), Diaz went 2-for-4.
8. (17) Bryant (Ark.), 14-0
Bryant has the longest winning streak in the nation at 42 in a row after starting the season 14-0. Recent wins include a 3-0 win over Faith Baptist (Fla.), 15-1 over Minnehaha (Minn.) and 4-3 over Eastview (Apple Valley, Minn.).
9. (NR) College Park (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), 6-2
The Falcons finished second at the National High School Invitational, defeating Farragut 3-1, Loyalsock Township 5-1 and Mosley 13-2 before falling to San Clemente in the championship game.
10. (4) Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.), 14-2
The Dolphins won their first two games of the National High School Invitational, beating JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) 1-0 in extra innings and then Whitewater (Fayetteville, Ga.) 4-2 in the second round. However Mosley lost to College Park (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) 13-2 in the semifinals and 5-2 to Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.) in a consolation game to finish 2-2 at the event.
11. (2) JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), 9-1
The Lions lost their first game at the National High School Invitational, falling 1-0 in extra innings to Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.). JSerra Catholic won the next three, however, beating Horizon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) 6-2, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 2-0 and DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.) 5-3. JSerra Catholic returns to action against Granite Hills (El Cajon, Calif.) in the first round of the Boras Classic of California (South) on April 7.
12. (NR) Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), 10-2
The Admirals lost their opening game of the National High School Invitational to College Park, 3-1, but bounced back to defeat Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.), 7-2, College Station (Texas) 5-4 and DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.) 8-7.
13. (NR) Boca Raton (Fla.), 15-1
Ranked No. 3 in Class 8A in the state by The Prep Zone, Boca Raton's only loss this season has been to Park Vista.
14. (14) Summerville (S.C.), 10-1
The Green Wave played Ashley Ridge three times last week, winning twice by scores of 2-1 and 10-6, then falling 1-0.
Wilson Beattie went the distance in the 2-1 victory, striking out five and walking two.
TJ Hopkins hit a triple in the 10-6 victory.
15. (19) Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 12-2
The Panthers won a pair of conference outings last week, defeating South Gwinnett (Snellville) 11-2 and Archer (Lawrenceville) 16-3.
Trevor Brown had a pair of doubles against South Gwinnett while
Johnathan Whitmer hit a home run against Archer.
16. (20) Fayetteville (Ark.), 11-1
The Purple Dogs bounced back from their first loss of the season to win three more games at the Coach Bob Invitational last week. Fayetteville defeated Valley Vista (Ariz.) 8-1, Chatfield (Colo.) 10-0 and Chaparral (Colo.) 4-2.
Andy Pagnozzi struck out 11 against Valley Vista and
Ethan King and
Grant Koch each hit home runs.
John Boushelle pitched the shutout against Chatfield while
Blake Power and Pagnozzi each homered.
17. (NR) Christian Brothers (Memphis, Tenn.), 15-0
The Purple Wave have the best record in Tennessee with three shutout wins. Christian Brothers will host the 23rd annual USA Classic this week.
18. (NR) Dallas Jesuit, 15-1-2
The Rangers were ranked No. 4 in the Class 6A state rankings by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, but will likely move up with losses by Alexander (Laredo) and Flower Mound.
19. (13) Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 14-2
Buchanan defeated defending section champion Clovis 1-0 in Tri-River League play last week, but fell to Clovis North 4-3.
20. (NR) Coppell (Texas), 12-2
The Cowboys remained undefeated in district play by handing previously undefeated Carroll (Southlake, Texas) a pair of losses, 7-3 and 3-2.
21. (NR) Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 15-2
The Huskies have won nine in a row since suffering their last loss. Included in those wins are five victories at the Horizon/Brophy National Invitational.
22. (NR) Carroll (Corpus Christi, Texas), 11-0-1
The Tigers have just one tie to Victoria East in tournament play marring an otherwise spotless record. Carroll was ranked No. 6 in Class 6A in the latest THSBCA rankings.
23. (NR) Oak Ridge (Conroe, Texas), 12-1
The War Eagles won a recent showdown with College Park, 5-4, and their only loss is a 3-2 defeat to Klein Oak in tournament play.
24. (16) Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.), 15-1
The Dorados suffered their first loss of the season, falling 6-3 to Salpointe Catholic (Tucson), but they bounced back to defeat Marana (Tucson) 11-0 and Sahuarita 11-1.
25. (NR) Centennial (Bakersfield, Calif.), 13-1
Although the Golden Hawks have a loss to Bullard (Fresno), they also have wins over Clovis North (Fresno), Clovis West (Fresno), Liberty (Bakersfield) and Frontier (Bakersfield).
Second 2526. (NR) Aliso Niguel (Aliso Viejo, Calif.), 8-5
The ranking might be a little high for a team that has five losses, but Aliso Niguel also has two wins over Huntington Beach, which performed well at the NHSI, and a recent win over Dana Hills. Aliso Niguel will also participate in the Boras Classic South Tournament next week.
27. (NR) Huntington Beach (Calif.), 5-6
It's rare to have a team ranked in the top 50 when it has a losing record, but Huntington Beach put together wins over previously ranked St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Puyallup (Wash.), and also routed Whitewater (Fayetteville, Ga.) at the NHSI. HB also has a win over defending California Southern Section Division I champion Santa Margarita and five of its losses are to Aliso Niguel, JSerra Catholic and San Clemente.
28. (25) Puyallup (Wash.), 5-2
The Vikings posted shutout wins over Loyalsock Township (Pa.) 12-0, Trinity Prep (Winter Park, Fla.) 5-0 and Leesville Road (N.C.) 3-0, but lost to Huntington Beach (Calif.) 6-0 at the National High School Invitational.
29. (24) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 13-3
The Raiders went 2-2 at the National High School Invitational, defeating Leesville Road (Raleigh, N.C.) and College Station (Texas) and falling to Huntington Beach (Calif.) and JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.).
30. (5) College Station (Texas), 14-4-1
The Cougars finished 1-3 at the National high School Invitational, defeating Trinity Prep (Winter Park, Fla.) in their first game on Thursday and then falling to eventual tournament champion San Clemente (Calif.) 5-3 in the second round, Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.) 5-4 in the consolation round and St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 11-6 in their final game of the tournament.
31. (22) Charles Henderson (Troy, Ala.), 24-2
Charles Henderson dropped its second game of the season, falling 4-2 to Valley (Louisville, Ky.) at the Gulf Shores Classic. The Trojans also defeated Hazel Green (Ala.) 4-3 and Dothan (Ala.) 2-1.

32. (NR) College Park (The Woodlands, Texas), 13-2
The Cavaliers lost their season opener to Georgetown, but they won 13 in a row before falling to Oak Ridge 5-4 on Friday.
33. (NR) La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, Calif.), 8-1
The Mavericks have key wins over Granite Hills (El Cajon, Calif.), Rancho Bernardo (San Diego) and Cathedral Catholic (San Diego).
34. (11) Dana Hills (Dana Point, Calif.), 11-2
The Dolphins lost to Aliso Niguel 1-0 and then beat Poly (Riverside) 5-3 and tied La Sierra (Riverside) 2-2 at the Anaheim Lions Tournament.
35. (18) Edison (Huntington Beach, Calif.), 12-2
The Chargers split their two league games last week, defeating Fountain Valley 8-3 and falling to Marina (Huntington Beach) 10-2.
36. (15) Alexander (Laredo, Texas), 13-1
The Bulldogs ran their winning streak to 13 in a row before falling to King (Corpus Christi, Texas), 11-1. Alexander defeated United South (Laredo, Texas) 13-0, United (Laredo, Texas) 3-1 and Johnson (Laredo, Texas) 9-1.
37. (NR) Flower Mound (Texas) 15-3
The Jaguars have key wins over Marcus, Rockwall-Heath and Atascocita. Losses are to Frisco Wakeland (a team it has also defeated), College Station and Kingwood (Humble).
38. (NR) Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose, Calif.), 9-1
Last year's California Central Coast Section Division I finalist is off to a strong start with a win over Valley Christian and a loss to Archbishop Mitty on its resume.
39. (21) Valley Christian (San Jose, Calif.), 11-2
The Warriors topped St. Ignatius (San Francisco) 2-0 in West Catholic Athletic League play, but fell to Saint Francis (Mountain View) 4-2.
Brian Tate struck out nine in six innings against St. Ignatius.
40. (12) Carroll (Southlake, Texas), 11-2
The Dragons lost their first two games of the season, falling twice in district play to Coppell, 7-3 and 3-2.
41. (NR) Whitewater (Fayetteville, Ga.), 10-3
Whitewater recently went 2-2 at the National High School Invitational with wins over Trinity Prep (Winter Park, Fla.) and DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.) and losses to Huntington Beach (Calif.) and Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.).
42. (NR) Joliet Catholic Academy (Ill.), 2-0
The Hilltoppers are off to a strong start with a 10-3 win over Brother Rice (Chicago) and 2-1 over Lincoln Way North.
43. (NR) Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), 9-2
Mitty has a loss to Valley Christian, but also has a win over Bellarmine College Prep.
44. (NR) Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), 7-1
The only loss of the season is to La Costa Canyon.
45. (NR) Haines City (Fla.), 14-2
Haines City is ranked No. 5 overall in the state by The Prep Zone.
46. (NR) Oxford (Miss.), 14-0
Oxford is the only undefeated team in the Class 5A state rankings in Mississippi.
47. (NR) Greenbrier (Evans, Ga.), 12-0
The Wolfpack have the best record in the Class 5A state standings in Georgia.
48. (NR) Kennesaw Mountain (Kennesaw, Ga.), 14-3
Kennesaw Mountain avenged its loss to Hillgrove (Powder Springs, Ga.) with a 4-0 win. It also beat North Cobb (Kennesaw) twice last week.
49. (NR) Winter Haven (Fla.), 14-3
The Blue Devils avenged a previous loss to Lake Region (Eagle Lake, Fla.) with an 8-0 win on Thursday. They also defeated Jesuit (Tampa) 4-1 last week.
50. (NR) Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.), 13-2
CDS picked up its second loss of the season against Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), but defeated ThunderRidge (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Brophy College Prep (Phoenix) and Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.) last week.
