Piedmont Hills brought a two-game winning streak into their game against Pioneer next week; they left with a three-game streak. Piedmont Hills were able to grind out a solid victory over Pioneer on Friday, winning 49-41.
The contest started off well for Piedmont Hills, whose offense put up 28 first-half points. Pioneer countered with 13 points, leaving the score at 28-13 going into the half. Although Piedmont Hills wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
The win got Piedmont Hills back to even at 4-4. Pioneer's loss makes it five in a row and drags their record down to 3-5.
The teams are both focusing on improving their conference standings in their upcoming contests. Piedmont Hills will square off against Leland at 7:00 PM next week. Those two teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins. Pioneer will take on Westmont at home at 7:00 PM. Those two teams have had a rocky road up to this point with five consecutive losses for Pioneer and six for Westmont.
