If the MaxPreps national rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Pittsburg. They will challenge Antioch on the road at 1:30 PM on Saturday. Pittsburg have seen their point totals decreasing over the past three games, a vulnerability Antioch are surely hoping to exploit.
It's was a good run, but Pittsburg finally witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak. It was close but no cigar for Pittsburg as they fell 21-24 to Liberty last Friday. On a positive note, senior Willie Harts III put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 120 yards and 1 touchdown. Harts III has now scored at least one touchdown in the past six games.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up at the half for Antioch and Deer Valley, but Antioch stepped up in the second half. Antioch took their contest against Deer Valley 28-20. The success represented a nice turnaround for Antioch, who in their last game suffered a tough 0-52 defeat.
Antioch's victory lifted them to 7-2 while Pittsburg's loss dropped them down to 6-3. In their win, Antioch relied heavily on senior Willem Karnthong, who picked up 90 yards on the ground and threw 2 TDs. Pittsburg will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
