Eastern Wayne have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against J.H. Rose at 7:00 PM. If the game is anything like the 49-43 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Eastern Wayne ultimately got the result it was hoping for two weeks ago. They secured a 20-14 W over C.B. Aycock. Among those leading the charge for Eastern Wayne was junior Desmond Vaughn, who passed for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Vaughn's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past four games.
Meanwhile, if J.H. Rose were riding high off their 55-0 takedown of Southern Wayne, that ride came to an abrupt end. J.H. Rose ended up on the wrong side of a painful 21-48 walloping at D.H. Conley's hands.
Eastern Wayne's win lifted them to 3-4 while J.H. Rose's loss dropped them down to 5-3. We'll find out if Eastern Wayne can add another positive mark to their record or if J.H. Rose can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Eastern Wayne's step.
