Both Varnado and Arcadia have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday to determine who is worthy to move on. Varnado is coming into the game hot, having won three in a row.
Varnado has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling six) after its most recent game. It put the hurt on Ringgold last week with a conclusive 43 - 0 victory. Two standouts for Varnado were senior Desmond Harry and senior Jacorrius Bickham; the former showed off his agility by splitting the defense to the tune of 93 yards while the latter found the end zone on one run and one reception.
Meanwhile, everything went Arcadia's way against White Castle last week as it secured a 52 - 8 win. Junior Corey Russell, jr. deserves a lot of the credit as he rushed for 242 yards and five touchdowns. This marked the 7th consecutive game in which Russell, jr. had 100+ rushing yards. Freshman Demarion Mccarter was in the mix too, providing Arcadia with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Arcadia to 5-5 and Varnado to 8-2. Of course, Arcadia and Varnado can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
