That gave him a state-tying record 122 catches this year to tie the 2010 mark of
Richard Mullaney of Thousand Oaks. Earlier this year the 6-foot, 185-pound senior wide receiver broke the Northern California record with 24 catches in an overtime game against Liberty Ranch (Galt, Calif.).
Coach Chris Jones told the Sacramento Bee, "Logan's very, very good and he's been a three-year guy for us. He's worked hard for this and he's earned it."
Smith said, "I haven't had a lot of time to think about it, but I just feel blessed. I am just going out and playing the game I love, and it's just crazy that I broke the record. I think after the season I will have more appreciation and understanding of what I have accomplished. My focus is on next week (the playoffs) and getting better so I can put the team in a position to be successful."
The national record is 165 set by Mark McDonagh of Riverside-Brookfield (Brookfield, Ill.).
