4A Region IV District 27 recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Seguin, who took down 366th ranked Lockhart, 38-12.
The Matadors moved up to 593 from 736 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region IV District 27. Seguin was able to make the jump by beating the Lions 38-12.
Tivy's dynamic duo of Parks McNeil and Tyler Ahrens proved tough for Clemens to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McNeil threw for 86 yards and one touchdown and Ahrens had 43 yards receiving. Tristan Smith helped Tivy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 22 yards.
Curtis Hawkins was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 193 yards as Lockhart bested the Buffaloes. Teammate CJ McKinney added to the ground attack by rushing for 87 yards.
Boerne-Champion's Kyle Poeske and Spencer Jarzombek have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Poeske has thrown for 1549 yards this season, while Jarzombek, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 31 catches for 456 yards. The Lions' Marcos Rodriguez leads the league in rushing yards with 528.
A big matchup in 4A Region IV District 27 this week will be when Tivy takes on Hays. As it stands, David Jones's team is in fourth, while the Rebels are in first.
Hays extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lehman, 28-10. The victory was the fourth in a row for Blake Feldt's team.
