The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Hurricanes defeated Braden River (Bradenton, Fla.) 56-0.
After taking the lead on a
Cord Sandberg touchdown pass to
Brodrick Yancy in the first quarter, the Hurricanes led 49-0 at the half.
With the win Manatee extended its winning streak to five games. MHS defeated the Seminoles 52-13 last week.
The Hurricanes' most effective player was Sandberg. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. A member of the 2013 Top 100, Sandberg has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 63-0 win for Manatee.
In a non-conference game next week Braden River (1-6) takes on Bayshore, and Manatee (5-0) will go up against Cypress Bay also in a non-conference game.
