Piper came into their this week averaging 39 points per game, but Piper fell well short of that average, and it cost them. They took a 7-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tonganoxie. If Piper were expecting to get some payback for the 7-45 loss against Tonganoxie the last time they met, then they were left disappointed.
No one put up better numbers for Tonganoxie than senior Korbin Riedel, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Drake Pray, who racked up 11 tackles.
The defeat dropped Piper's record to 3-2. The victory bumped Tonganoxie's record up to 4-2.
Piper will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Paola. Paola have averaged 42 points over the course of their past five games, so Piper might be in for a challenge. As for Tonganoxie, they will face off against Spring Hill. Spring Hill took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse Tonganoxie's good fortune.
