Both Central Falls (7-2) and Providence Country Day/Wheeler/Sanchez Complex (10-0) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 6:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Both teams come into the game backed by wins in their previous games.
Central Falls went up against Narragansett last week. Central Falls got off to a sluggish start, posting zero total points in the first half. That put it down 7 - 0. Thankfully, the other side of the ball came through for it: the defense held Narragansett to zero points in the second half. That gave Central Falls just enough oomph to take the game with a final score of 14 - 7.
Meanwhile, Providence Country Day/Wheeler/Sanchez Complex can now show off eight landslide victories after its most recent game. It took its contest against Tiverton last week by a conclusive 45 - 14 score. Senior Elijah Matthews didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he ran for 200 yards and punched in four touchdowns. Matthews should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Providence Country Day/Wheeler/Sanchez Complex in the past five games. Senior Dennis Gastel was in the mix too, providing Providence Country Day/Wheeler/Sanchez Complex with two touchdowns.
While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
