Sumner (Wash.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 49-7 win over Auburn Mountainview (Auburn, Wash.).
The Spartans put up 14 points in the opening frame. Sumner scored on a passing touchdown and a touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, SHS was up 35-7 at the half.
The Spartans grew their lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. Sumner's lone score in the quarter came on a passing touchdown.
Auburn Mountainview's lone touchdown came on a 22-yard pass in the second quarter.
A 28-13 Sumner victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
In a non-conference game next week Auburn Mountainview (0-1) takes on Mt. Tahoma, and Sumner (1-0) will go up against Bonney Lake also in a non-conference game.
