Minatare (3-4) and Sioux County (3-4) go head to head this Friday at 4:00 AM. Minatare dropped a decent lead last game -- we'll see if that pushes the squad to a win or puts them in a funk.
Minatare put forth a good scoring effort two games ago and even improved upon it last game, but that didn't prove quite enough. It was close but not close enough last game as it fell 71 - 68 to Hyannis. The result came about despite the 4th straight game that Kaleb Gonzales put up 100+ rushing yards. Gonzales has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past three consecutive games. Junior Ephroen Lovato was another big-time player for Minatare. He tacked on four touchdowns to Minatare's score.
Meanwhile, Sioux County's opponent Banner County forfeited the game last week 1 - 0. That marks its first win on the road this year.
The last time they met, the final might easily have been mistaken for a basketball score. Sioux County was the clear winner with a 80 - 46 finish. Minatare couldn't get the same offensive movement going as Sioux County (519 yards compared to 418 yards), so it will surely be hoping to change that this time around. Will Minatare avenge its loss? We'll find out soon enough.
