Westbury Christian's D'Eriq King rumbled for the longest rushing play in TAPPS Division II District 4 this season in his game against Pope John XXIII last week. King's team beat the Lions as he sprinted for 67 yards on the play and finished with 100 in all.
Westbury Christian moved up to 420 from 592 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Charlie Ward's team was able to make the jump by defeating Pope John XXIII 45-22.
Johnny Thomas was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 128 yards as the Wildcats defeated Scot Mills' team.
Walker Whitehorn put up the best numbers through the air as Northland Christian bested Lutheran South. He finished with nine completions for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Whitehorn's favorite target this week was Lane Rodgers, who caught three passes for 39 yards.
Simon was the best wideout in TAPPS Division II District 4 this week as Westbury Christian topped the Lions. Simon racked up four receptions for 111 yards. Dominique Hebert helped Westbury Christian's passing attack out by catching five balls for 58 yards.
Lutheran North's Nelson Gunnell and Brandon Slater have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gunnell has thrown for 1109 yards this season, while Slater, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 29 catches for 439 yards. Carter Odenweller from the Cougars leads the league in rushing with 617 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Northland Christian takes on second place Fort Bend Christian Academy. Last week, Northland Christian beat the Pioneers, while Fort Bend Christian Academy lost to Second Baptist.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Eagles take on David Nelson's team. Fort Bend Christian Academy has allowed 127 points this season, while the Cougars have given up 91. David Roberts' team allowed 50 points last week as it lost to the Fighting Eagles.
Northland Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lutheran South, 62-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Cougars.
