CHICAGO - Elizabeth Williams set a scoring record with 23 points as the East girls rolled over the West, 78-66, in the 10th McDonald's girls All-American Game at the United Center Wednesday.

Ariel Massengale, who will play for Tennessee next year, added 13 points for the East and
Bria Smith (bound for Virginia) had 10.
Brianna Banks, heading for Connecticut, topped the West with 17, and
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, also going to UConn, finished with 12.
Williams, a 6-3 post headed for Duke, and generally considered the top prep post player in the country, started the game by making a three for the East to erase a 2-0 deficit, and after that the sun set on the West. The West made just two of it first 14 shots, and at one point was five for 29 from the field.
"Defensively, we locked down," said Massengale afterwards.
At the same time, the East was dominating the boards and led by as many as 22 in the first half. And when Massengale buried two threes within the space of a minute early in the second half to make it 52-29, all that was left was to see if Williams could break the scoring record (she pushed Alexis Hornbuckle (2004) out of the top spot) and the rebounding mark (her 11 was three short of Kelley Cain's 2007 record).

"I like playing in big games - the bigger, the better," Williams said. "I was just trying to work hard for my team, whether it was points or rebounds or passing. Whatever I could do.
"It was a pretty physical game and they don't like to call fouls. ... Overall, I played pretty solid. There's always room for improvement."
