Lejeune (Camp Lejeune, N.C.) took an early lead against Spring Creek (Seven Springs, N.C.) and held on for a 46-7 victory on Saturday.
The Devil Pups scored 19 points in the first quarter. Lejeune scored on a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run and a rushing touchdown.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, LHS was up 26-7 at the half.
The Camp Lejeune school expanded its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. The Devil Pups scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Spring Creek's only touchdown came on a 56-yard pass from DeOntre Hammonds to Jordan Hicks in the second quarter.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 60-6 win for Lejeune.
The victory was a step in the right direction for LHS, which was coming off a 36-7 defeat at the hands of Swansboro in its previous game.
Lejeune (1-1) will play a non-conference game against Lakewood next week, while Spring Creek (0-2) will take on East Carteret also in a non-conference game.
