It's automatic every Monday and Tuesday during the girls prep basketball season. High school basketball fans from all corners of the state login to their computers hoping the school they are loyal to moved up in the rankings, took over the top spot, or made the climb into the rankings.
But what about the national rankings? Oh what a coup that would be, to find your alma mater alongside traditional powers Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif), Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.) or Riverdale (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). Heck, landing a Top 100 ranking would be pretty cool, too.
Well, this week we did that work for you. Scouring through the MaxPreps National Rankings, we unearthed the current national ranking for each member of Nebraska's Top 10 girls basketball teams.
While the Cornhusker State is not represented in the Top 25, top-ranked Omaha Westside did crack the Top 100 at No. 84. Millard South, Nebraska's No. 2 club, is now a member of the Top 250 at 226th and Mitchell dropped six spots to 357th. Hastings St. Cecilia and Bishop Neumann round out the Top 5 at 527th and 620th respectively out of the 15,616 schools that now reside in MaxPreps' girls basketball national rankings database.
We used Tuesday's rankings for this week's Top 10. As you browse through the Top 10, listed on the top line is the name of the school, its won-loss record in parentheses and the school's MaxPreps power ranking.Where do Nebraska's top girls basketball teams rank nationally?
