The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Otay Ranch takes on Lincoln in the first playoff game of the year. Otay Ranch is coming into the game hot, having won five in a row.
Otay Ranch has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling four) after its most recent game. Everything went its way against Mater Dei Catholic two weeks ago as it secured a 47 - 9 win. With three TDs, senior Sammy Paranada was a significant factor in the success. Paranada has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past six consecutive games. Senior David Balderas was in the mix too, providing Otay Ranch with two touchdowns.
As for Lincoln, it didn't have too much trouble with Vista in its last game, where Lincoln won 40 - 20. Lincoln had two big standouts, as senior Asante Hartzog tossed the ball for 253 yards and three TDs, while senior Kenyon Sims earned two touchdowns and 164 yards rushing the ball. Sims should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Lincoln in the past 11 games.
Their wins bumped Otay Ranch to 7-3 and Lincoln to 9-2. Otay Ranch and Lincoln have piled up the yardage in their recent games, so expect an explosive offensive competition when the two teams meet up this week.
