Floyd Central put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put a hurting on Prestonsburg to the tune of 49-6. Prestonsburg can consider this payback for the 22-42 loss they dealt Floyd Central the last time the teams encountered one another.
Floyd Central got off to a slow start in their previous match, but they had no such trouble against Prestonsburg and cruised to a 37-point first half. Prestonsburg came up with 6 to make it 37-6 heading into the break. The Floyd Central defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the game. The victory bumped their record up to 4-1. Prestonsburg are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-4.
Next week Floyd Central take on Pike County Central at 7:30 PM. As for Prestonsburg, they will face off against Hazard. Prestonsburg come in off of four low-scoring performances in a row, a trend the squad is obviously eager to reverse.
