MANSFIELD, Ohio - After swapping the lead two times,
Mansfield Senior (Mansfield, Ohio) took the lead for the win when
Hutch Blackstone kicked a field goal in the second quarter, paving the way for victory over
West Holmes (Millersburg, Ohio) 23-17.
After taking the lead on a field goal by Blackstone in the second quarter, the Tygers were up 20-14 at the half.
Mansfield Senior grew its lead to nine points entering the fourth quarter. MS's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal by Blackstone.
The Mansfield school led by as many as nine points before the Knights cut into the final margin.
The Tygers went into the matchup giving up only 13.2 points per game. West Holmes' 17 points were well below its season average of 27.0 per game.
The loss comes after West Holmes defeated Orrville 28-23 last week.
In a Ohio Cardinal game next week Mansfield Senior (7-0) takes on Wooster, and West Holmes (5-2) will go up against Lexington also in a Ohio Cardinal game.
