The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Idalou (4-6) takes on Childress (9-1) in the first playoff game of the year. Idalou has seen its point totals steadily rise over the past three games, a trend the team will no doubt hope to continue.
Two weeks ago, Idalou took on Stanton. Idalou's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 23 points in the first half. That put it at a 23 - 14 advantage. The offense continued to do well in the second half, scoring 21 points. At the end of the day, Idalou walked away with a breezy 44 - 21 win.
As for Childress, it has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling six) after its most recent game. Everything went its way against Spearman last week as it secured a 42 - 7 win. One major factor in the victory was the play of junior Luke Latimer, who ran for 113 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. This sound performance was nothing new for Latimer, who has been a rock for Childress in the past ten games. Junior Haggan Lott was in the mix too, providing Childress with three touchdowns.
Both Idalou and Childress are bound to feel confident after their prior matchups, but one team's ego will take a hit. We'll find out which one when the teams meet up this week.
