Baseball Game Preview: Burrillville Broncos vs. Middletown Islanders

Burrillville is 0-8 against Middletown since May of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Islanders at 5:15 p.m. Burrillville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Burrillville barely beat Johnston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Broncos' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers an 8-0 shutout on Sunday. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Daniel Delmonaco's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jordan Furtado, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Burrillville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Middletown didn't have quite enough to beat Prout on Saturday and fell 7-6.

Burrillville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.
